UNCCD COP17 Mayors’ Forum: Local Leadership for Land Resilience
The UNCCD COP17 Mayors’ Forum will bring together mayors, local and regional governments, international organizations and key partners in Ulaanbaatar to advance local leadership on land resilience, sustainable land management, water security and climate adaptation.
Building on previous engagement of local governments within the UNCCD process, the Forum will provide a dedicated platform to strengthen multilevel governance, foster city-to-city cooperation and partnerships, and reinforce the institutional voice of local and regional governments in addressing land degradation, desertification and drought.
The Forum is expected to culminate in the adoption of the Ulaanbaatar Declaration, articulating the collective commitments of participating mayors and contributing to continued cooperation within the UNCCD framework
