The Tenth Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF 10) will be held from 8-13 February 2020 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This will be the first time that an Arab country will host the world’s most important conference on cities and human settlements.
The World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments, our constituency’s political mechanism to the international arena, formally met during the morning of our last day of the Summit, gathering hundreds of local leaders, civil society partners and national governments.
The World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments (WALRG), convened and facilitated by the Global Taskforce of Local and Regional Governments, will bring together the leadership of the international networks of LRG to assess, showcase and develop their policy positions for the implementation and delivery decade of the 2030 Agenda.
A delegation of over a hundred local and regional elected officials, practitioners and international networks made their way to the 1st UN-Habitat Assembly that took place in Nairobi from 27 to 31 May, demonstrating their commitment to the localization of the New Urban Agenda and to the renewed governance of UN-Habitat.
The World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments will meet on 8th February 2018 in Kuala Lumpur in order to discuss progress and follow-up on the implementation of the global goals and the New Urban Agenda from the perspective of proximity. Around 150 local and regional leaders, representing different global networks of local and regional governments, will gather at this fifth session of the World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments.
From 5 to 6 of September 2017, a delegation of local and regional leaders and representatives of the networks of the Global Taskforce will attend the high-level meeting convened by the President of the UN General Assembly on the New Urban Agenda and UN-Habitat in New York.
